Mailchimp pricing: what the page shows
Short answer
- Essentials $13, Standard $20, Premium $350/mo — each a 12-month “Save 50%” promo. The renewal price was not captured.
- Contact tier unconfirmed (first, 0–500, inferred). Free says 250 contacts; the page also says under 500.
- No revenue share on the page, so Mailchimp is not in the calculator.
Mailchimp prices by contacts and emails sent. Read from Mailchimp’s own page on October 25, 2026.
What the page shows
| Plan | Promo price (contact tier unconfirmed; first tier inferred) | Email sends | Notes from the page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | not captured | “Limit of 250 contacts” on the plan card; the page also says “Under 250 contacts? It’s free.” but elsewhere “fewer than 500 contacts”. The page contradicts itself; treat 250 as the stated limit and check before relying on it. |
| Essentials | $13/mo for 12 months (labeled “Save 50%”) | not captured | Price after the first 12 months was not captured. |
| Standard | $20/mo for 12 months (labeled “Save 50%”) | up to 6,000 a month | Price after the first 12 months was not captured. |
| Premium | $350/mo for 12 months (labeled “Save 50%”) | up to 150,000 a month | Price after the first 12 months was not captured. |
The listed $13, $20 and $350 are first-year promotional prices as the page labels them, not ongoing prices. Higher contact tiers (501–1,500 up to 1,000,000+) exist but their prices were not captured. Overages apply if contact or email send limit is exceeded.
| Vendor / plan | Source summary | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Mailchimp marketing plans | Free plan with a limit of 250 contacts. The page shows Essentials $13/mo, Standard $20/mo and Premium $350/mo, each labeled “Save 50%” for 12 months, then a higher starting price that was not captured. Which contact tier these promo prices belong to is unconfirmed (we infer the first, 0-500, tier from the list order). Standard is shown with up to 6,000 emails a month and Premium up to 150,000. Prices follow contact-count tiers from 0-500 up to 1,000,000+, and overages apply if the contact or email-send limit is exceeded. Exact wording: “Overages apply if contact or email send limit is exceeded.” | mailchimp.com/pricing/marketing checked October 25, 2026 |
What this means for a paid-newsletter operator
- Contact-based billing. Mailchimp’s tiers are by contact count. The saved page does not say how unsubscribed or non-subscribed contacts are counted, so this guide makes no claim about that; check Mailchimp’s own definition before comparing list sizes.
- No revenue-share price on the page. The saved page lists no percentage on paid subscriptions or digital sales, and no paid-subscription feature, so it is left out of the revenue calculator rather than compared by assumption. Research notes mentioned a 1.5–2% commerce fee; the saved page does not show one, so it is not used here.
- Compare list-size cost, not take rate. If you only need to email a list, compare Mailchimp’s contact tiers with MailerLite’s subscriber tiers or MailCheap’s send-based plans. See send-based vs subscriber-based pricing.
Limits: list-size prices above the 0–500 tier were not captured; promotional first-year prices change; this page is a reading guide, not a quote. Check Mailchimp’s pricing page for current numbers.
